Description |
Marylynn Bandy was born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1950. She was educated at Du Pont High and Fisk University. She went on to further her education at the Smithsonian Institution, Vanderbilt University, and West Virginia State College. In 1972 she held a Graduate Assistantship at Souther Illinois University. Bandy was primarily a ceramicist, however, in her time she created many paintings, drawings and crafts using a variety of mediums. Her work focuses on the "human dilemma" as she calls it, and in choosing to use the human face as a means to convey moods, Bandy wishes for the viewers to relate to the subjects in her work through this nonverbal link in communication. |
