Description |
Nancy-Louise Mottesheard, a native of West Virginia draws influence for her paintings from the beautiful, rolling, landscape of her home state. Her work emphasizes the sensuous and rhythmic lines, patterns, and colors found in nature. She utilizes the technique of pouring, throwing, or even splattering paint upon the canvas to mirror the sensuousness of the flora and fauna that she so loves. "The shapes and colors in this work are not of Florida, midwest, southwest or northwest, but West Virginia where I was born and lived most of my life (except for schooling). I feel much closer to the flora than to the animal kingdom, and my shapes reflect that. Flowing rhythms found in nature's flora are full of life, thoughunseen, but that can be felt and experienced. Such energy is pregnant with creativity, sensuality, and uplifting lyricalness. Sensuousness is also in the paint's application - pouring layers upon layers of color or throwing, splattering, or flowing paint. The canvas may be tilted to allow paint to run and finally laid flat to allow drying for days between layers." Nancy-Lousie Mottesheard |
