Description |
The twisted contours and textured surface of "Bower's Ridge" represent Lyn Wyatt's personal exploration of West Virginia, his native state. The steep topography of the southern West Virginia coal fields where Wyatt grew up are incorporated into this sculpture. "Bower's Ridge" refers to the ridge-top pine trees and steep, curving roads of southern West Virginia. The sculpture stands on three legs, giving it the appearance of a creature. The scarred surface of the sculpture is Wyatt's commentary of what often remains after man interferes with the environment. |
