Description |
Whitney Lee Savage was a realist painter, often with a surrealist or psychological twist. He was never an abstract painter, even when that was the dominant style among his peers in New York. His subject matter includes landscape, still life, complex multi-figure genre paintings and many, many portraits. He worked primarily in acrylic paint, after the 1960s, and also made many etchings during the late 1980s. |
