Description |
Paula Clendenin (b. 1949) has worked in a variety of media while exploring new ways to express her personal vision through her art. A native of West Virginia, Clendenin is an alumna of West Virginia University where she earned her BA and MFA degrees. She has been an art professor at West Virginia State University for 15 years and continues to produce new work. Clendenin has exhibited her work throughout West Virginia and in several major cities in the United States including Boston, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and New York City. In "Persona", Clendenin applied layers of color to emphasize surface texture. The energetic marks that comprise the figurative form communicate a sense of pulsing energy. Clendenin considers her work to be more symbolic than abstract. Her symbolism is fueled by the landscape of West Virginia and her life experiences. |
